This is a little late, but i thought i would post a report from the chippewa flowage in northern wisconsin. i met my buddies up there from june 28th to july 1st. this was my first trip to the flowage so i didnt know what to expect. it is absolutely beautiful up there. only 15% of the shoreline is developed, so there is a real nature feel to it. one day we even say 2 bears atop a aspen tree, playing with each other, and only 100 yards away.
The fishing started out difficult, but after trying a few spots and putting our heads together, we were able to develope a very consistant pattern. so consistant that we went through 5 lbs of leeches (talk about shelling out money for bait!!! ). we targeted weed lines and nothing else. we tried every other structure but weeds were it. some beds held fish, some didnt. some held 20 fish in one small area. it took searching, but when you found them it was a blast. we took enough for a shore lunch, and man, was that good. we had our best cook manning the frying pan and our guts thanked him for his good work.
...in lesser words it was a great trip. it was about a 3 hour drive from winona, so if your looking for a great place to go, it will we worth the trip. here are a few pictures. we didnt catch any huge fish, but most fish were 15-17 inch range (walleyes)
