My son and I took the canoe out on the pool 7 backwaters for a couple of hours before the fireworks. The Bass liked the white fluke on a #4 bass hook twitched around fallen timber and rock. Northern and Dogfish found the Northland tackle black and orange spinner bait irresistible. When the weeds became to thick for the spinner bait we threw a yellow buzz bait and a frog pattern moss boss. It was one of those nights where everything we tossed produced fish.

Nice Fish Jim,
Looked pretty sloppy out there, what fun!
I am sure Isaac had a great time.
I am glad someone is finding fish.

Thanks Jeff,
Isaac and I had a ball out there.
I went out by myself on the 5th and refined my technique with the fluke. I threw the spinner bait at the weed edges and picked up a mix of pike, dogfish and largemouth. Whenever I saw a fish hit the surface in or out of the weeds I tossed the fluke as close to the spot as possible and let it sink for a second, in quite a few cases the largemouth smoked it as soon as it hit. If the bass didn't hit right away a couple of twitches normally sealed the deal. Needless to say I fished right up until dark, and caught and released a pile of bass.

Nice website Jim, the pictures are great! Isaac is getting so big! It's pretty hard for me and Greg to get out fishing these days with Brett so young yet. Hopefully next summer we'll take him on his first fishing trip. Until then, I'll live vicariously through you guys! :)

Thanks Trish,

It was great to see you and the nipper last night. It won't be long until Brett starts dunking worms for bluegills.
