If I was forced to hunt one animal I would select Bear. The reason I would select this is because of the time it takes. you have to start collecting your bear bait early in July. the hunt is in the middle of September. The weather is usually nice and warm. there are a few bugs but up north there starting to slow down. The actual hunt is semi relaxed no wakeing up in the middle of the night to get ready to hunt the morning. all you have to do is wake up bait your sites and relax until the evening hunt. It's even fun to see if there have been bear at your sites.
Bear are so quiet and all of a sudden they are there. They are an animal that most never see in the wild, so that makes them fun to watch. They are very challengin to hunt.

I have always considered going bear hunting, but never tried it. I guess if there was one thing that I would hunt, it would be ducks. I live for duck hunting, i hate getting up all those early mornings, but its all worth it. But if i had to survive off of duck, it would definatly suck!

One animal to hunt forever?........DUCKS!!!! far and away, no contest what so ever :D

Although I must say, in a perfect world I could find the money to put together a decent spread and take a whole spring off and just chase snow geese from Texas back up to Canada!!! The spring hunt is by far the most fun I have all year!!! That would be awesome too :D

duck hunting is by far the dominent species. how about listing a few reasons why??? a few reasons why i love it is because there are so many things that can go wrong. ie wind changing directions, water freezing the nite before, ducks not likeing your calling or dekes, ducks spotting you, so when you do it right, it feels great to have fooled them. those who hunt without dogs, i dont know how u do it. that is half of the fun right there to see what you have put the time and money into training, do its job. also there arent many other hunts where you can get a bunch of guys together, and bs and have a good time during the down times. deer, turkey and many other hunts you are either by yourself if you are with someone you have to be still and quiet. also one other thing. BANDS! waiting for the dog to come back so you can check for bands is another exciting feature only in migratory bird hunting. i know the first thing i do when i get a duck before even looking to see how nice a bird it is is to check for leg bands. so far i have averaged one or more bands a season that i have either shot or have seen shot in the blind. another great thing about waterfowl hunting is getting a big trophy duck like a can or a pintail. shooting a bird that you dont shoot very often can also make the hunt as much as shooting a band. ne ways, lets hear some of your guys reasons for waterfowl hunting.

For me its all about the dogs, second it is about getting out with freinds and when the action is slow, it is a great time to talk and caught up and enjoy the day, everyone in the blind expearence the same things so it makes for great memorys, unlike some solo hunting when it is only your memory and becomes a story.

Im a bit suprised that there are so many Duck lovers. That's good one thing I've never hunted, but it sounds like it would be fun. I like eating wild duck so im sure i would like hunting them.

If I had to choose, I would choose Elk and would choose to hunt with a bow during the rut. The shear power and energy that the Elk displays during the rut is awesome. I have never hunted Elk,,, I have never eaten Elk,,, but if I had to choose, that would be it. It seems like a very interactive hunt with the bugling and cow calling, and from what my family tells me it is simply the best eating game animal out there. I am going to give it a try someday that is for sure!
