Shad Everywhere!!

It seems like I am seeing shad everywhere. A lot of the smallies that I am catching are fat compared to about a month ago when they were quite thinner. But like Haywood04 was saying earlier that with all this baitfish it can make fishing tough. Matching the size of the baitfish has been working good for me, but still not getting the big smallies that I would like to be catching on a more constant basis.

I've also noticed the fish getting much fatter now. The shad are everywhere, at least on the main channel. I still haven't seen as many as year's past in the backwaters though.

Some wingdams on the main channel have little shad some have huge shad. If you can find the big shad, get ready!! :D

Andy, what do you define as "big"? Just curious, as I found a dead one last week that was about 3-4 inches long, I don't know what I would call that, medium-big??

I will keep a look out for the shad tonight on Pool 7 and see what I can find.

well, I would say around 3-4" which is not big for shad, but I think for right now that is fairly big.

I dont fish bass to often, but a lot of the shad I have been seein is about that 3-4" size also. How big will shad get by fall?
