Went up north to a friends place on Home lake north of Boulder Junction Wisconsin for the weekend. The weather was terrible with howling south winds both days. On Sunday the wind died down enough to launch a boat on Home lake so we decided to target smallmouth bass. The smallies were located in shallow boulders with a deep drop near by. We used tubes rigged with 8th ounce bullet sinkers and gamakatsu hooks. The big guy was sitting in a string of boulders off the tip of an island. He tipped the digital scale at 5.8 pounds, and 21 inches long. This lake is catch and release only on bass so there are many quality fish. I would love to spend a whole day chasing these guys instead of two hours on a short weekend.

Now if I could just figure out how to catch big toads like this on the river so I don't have to drive 4 and 1/2 hours.
This weekend I am heading back up north to hunt the Wisconsin duck opener for the north half of the state. Looks like great duck hunting weather!
