This summer Im wondering if any one would be interested in a sheephead fishing tournament where you keep all the sheep head you catch and weigh the total weight.

Im thinking that August would be a great time to do this. That is when the sheep head bite is the best. I was thinking like two man teams you can use boats or from shore doesn't matter.

I'll dispose of all the sheephead that are caught and weighed.

Just wondering is there is any one interested in doing something like this. I think that it would be a great way to get some people together.

i am already changing my line and getting the sheephead rods ready!!! i will be there. i think it is an awesome idea.

just a tip, i have found that after catching the first sheephead, you can increase you catch the rest of the day by rubbing it's sent all over your yourself and the carpet in your boat. they are sent driven!!!

Any of you ever compete at lipmasters on the Root around Rushford Peterson? My brother in law does it every year and it's supposed to be a lot of fun. Here's an article from the daily news:

If there is enought interest and i really think there will be maybe we could get our sheephead tournament to be just as successful.

The lipmasters is really a great time.. and a great opportunity to get your kids out on the Root. The weather is a crap shoot at that time of year, but sometimes you can get lucky. This year it is going to be on April 28th, and registration is at Nordic Lanes beginning around 9 or so. You can begin fishing at noon straight up. There are hundreds of fish caught, and mere ounces separate an "also ran" from the champion fish. It is funny to watch. I would highly recommend it,, but then again, anytime I can swill a few cold ones, watch my kids fall in the river, and possibly win some cash.. that is a win! And hey.. have you seen them LIPS??!!! Dang it son!:eek:
