Does anyone know of a good site with video explaining how to baitcast?
I purchased a nice Bass Pro Shop baitcasting reel from a buddy, but eveytime I cast I get MAJOR backlash and the reel looks like tumble weeds.
Any help would be great!

Baitcasters are not always the easiest, but first off the settings of the baitcast need to be set. What you will want to do first is set the screw on the right side of the reel, so that when you click down with your thumb to cast the bait slowly goes down, this is set by that round screw. Next you will want to set your magnetics on the leftside of the reel, I would set it about half way and then try casting. If you are still getting backlashes, turn the magnetics up. AND always make sure that when the bait hits the water, you push down with your thumb on the spool to prevent a backlash.
Not the easiest to explain, but I hope this helps.

Thanks for the tips Andy. I will give it a shot today. I know i've seen the screw on the right of the reel for tention, but the only other setting is on the left of the reel. It is a knob that has lock/unlock. I'm not sure what that is. I don't see anything about magnets??

if the reel dosent have a mag break, it will have a centrifical breaking system. this is even more comfusing for a first time baitcaster, but you set these by clicking those little plastic pieces in and out. they will snap down when you push them towards the center of the reel, making the spool go faster, and when you have them snapped out the spool goes slower. try having 4 snapped out, and 2 snapped in. make sure they are equal distances apart like right across from eachother or else they are not set right. confusing i know but play with it and youll figure it out
